Raichur District Chamber of Commerce & Industry

The Raichur District Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the second Inter-district Commerce and Industry meeting of Kalyan Karnataka Chambers in Raichur. The President, members, experts on municipality tax matters, advocates, and commercial property owners from Bidar, Kalburgi, Raichur, Yadgiri, Bellary Vijayanagara, and Koppal participated in the meeting. Additionally, the Raichur Rice Millers Association and the Executive Committee Members of the Raichur District Chamber of Commerce and Industry also took part in the meeting.
 
Shri S Kamal Kumar, President of Raichur District Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed all the delegations and stressed the importance of the Kalyan Karnataka region chamber working together for development. The meeting today will focus on discussions about Municipality tax matters, APMC Cess, The Appellate case in Delhi against GESCOM and Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), challenges in power supply and other issues with GESCOM, and the new Industrial Policy for 2025.
 
The first subject of discussion was the Municipality Property tax for commercial, non-commercial, and industries. After the discussion, it was decided to form a committee with the following members: Sri Ramachandra Prabhu, Sri Maski Nagaraj, Sri Venkat Reddy, Sri Yeshwanthraj Nagireddy, Sri Ashokswamy Herur, Sri Deepak Gala, Sri Ashwin Kotambari, Sri Trivikram Joshi, Sri Vasudev Sachar & PST of RDCCI. The committee has made the following decisions:
 
1. To hold a meeting with all Chambers of Karnataka and municipality stakeholders to discuss municipal issues and property tax matters.
2. The committee has to prepare a memorandum to be submitted to the Government.
3. To obtain legal opinion on the next course of action.
4. To follow up on the 5% rebate on property tax until June 2024, as the Government has already given a 5% rebate on payment of property tax to BBMP and Panchayat. The same should be implemented in all Municipalities.
 
The second matter that was discussed was APMC CESS, which is now 60 paise to follow up with the government to reduce to 30 paise, to remove this squad, the checking/inspecting authority should be given to Secetery only, check post within the state should be avoided and payment system should be simplified Shri Savitri Purushotam, who is heading the Raichur Committee presented the report, he said the committee will meet after the code of conduct the concerned department, Secretary and ministers and insist on the above issues.
 
Sri Ashwin Kothari provided an update on the Appellate case in the Delhi court. He mentioned that the next hearing date is approaching and as of yesterday, the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) and GESCOM have not filed their reply, despite having been issued notices. Sri Deepak Gala has appealed for action to stop all illegal connections, recover dues from the Government, and prevent them from being written off. This is to avoid burdening consumers who pay their bills properly and to ensure quality power supply.
 
The proposed new industrial policy, Sri Jamabanna updated the suggestion given by the Raichur District Chamber Of Commerce And Industry and Sri Yashwanth from Bellary Chamber said that the new industry policy the new Industries which has been established recently should get the APMC tax benefit and also the need of separate policy for Kalyan Karnataka area with a focus on agree base industries, Solar projects, Wind Mill, to attract Major Industries and to generate more employment in Kalyan Karnataka area Sri Siri Mylapur Murthy informed us that KIDB has increased the maintenance charges, abnormally, The same has to be taken up with the concerned department.
 
It was decided to hold the next third Kalyan Karnataka Chamber meeting in Bellary Sri Jambanna, Secretary of Raichur District Chamber Of Commerce And Industry proposed the vote of thanks and thank the media, Press, experts, advocates, Commercial Property owners and the members of all the chambers who have come to Raichur, for effectively conducting this meeting
